Organizing the WordPress Backoffice
Eight Plugins that Help!
http://bluelotusworks.com/organizing-the-wordpress-backoffice-eight-plugins-that-help/
Internal link maintenance is a chore on posts and pages!
Using the visual editor insert/edit link dialog is OK if you never:
- Rename a post or page
- Change post or page parent(s)
- Delete a post or page
Why CF Internal Link Shortcode?
- Follows post or page name and permalink changes
- Follows parents(s) changes
- Hides when the post or page is deleted
CF Internal Link Shortcode Alternatives
- B09 Link to Existing Content
http://wordpress.org/plugins/b09-link-to-existing-content/ - SEO Internal Link Shortcode
http://wordpress.org/plugins/seo-internal-link-shortcode/
Is there a better way to store all those snippets of text?!
- Copy and paste from one post or page to another...where was that?
- Store it away in a text editor, spreadsheet or database to again...copy and paste
- You keep a draft for that?
- Reduced blogging productivity, not to mention greater risk of carpal tunnel and eye strain!
- WordPress is a database! Find a plugin to store those snippets!
Why Post Snippets?
- Create post and page templates
- Process in page php via shortcode
- Accommodate variables in a snippet
- Describe the snippet function
- Import/export snippets
Post Snippets Alternatives
None!!!
Other plugins convert every snippet to a shortcode.
Need a better way to organize all those posts and pages?!
- Reviewing content with the default post and page viewer takes forever...
- and managing parent/child relationships is slow-going...
- and there isn't a fast way to add a bunch of pages with content later!
Why CMS Tree Page View?
- View options for posts, pages and custom post types
- View all posts, pages or custom post types on a single screen
- Drag and drop to manage relationships
- Quickly add new posts, pages and custom posts
CMS Tree Page View Alternatives
- Admin Menu Tree Page View
http://wordpress.org/plugins/admin-menu-tree-page-view/ - Advanced Page Manager
http://wordpress.org/plugins/advanced-page-manager/ - CMS Page Order

Want to change a style, but modifying theme files is such a pain?!
- Direct modification of theme files is a bad idea...
- and creating a child theme, using the theme editor and ftp is a bit advanced...
- and creating a theme...no, not ready yet...
- and all that's really needed is a font size increase or color change
Jetpack by WordPress.com Custom CSS
http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/
http://jetpack.me/support/custom-css/
Why Jetpack by WordPress.com Custom CSS?
- Simple or complex
- Append, modify or replace entirely

Got a cool php code snippet, but writing code is so inconvenient?!
- Geez, gotta mess with a child theme's functions.php again!!!
- Yeah, sure, messing with a personal/custom functions plugin is going to happen!
- Why hasn't someone written a plugin for that? No, not me!
- Damn, where was that bookmark that showed me how to do that?!
Why Code Snippets?
Code Snippets Alternatives
None! Nada! Zip! End of Story!
Is there a faster way to navigate a multisite network?!
- Navigating a multisite network is SLOW!!! using the default admin bar and sites page!
- Yet another way to increase the risk of carpal tunnel!
Why Multisite Dashboard Switcher?
- Directly navigate to more sections of each site in a multisite network
- Organize sites alphabetically
- Show site IDs in the menu
Multisite Dashboard Switcher Alternatives
- Multisite Admin Bar Switcher
http://wordpress.org/plugins/multisite-admin-bar-switcher/ - Multisite Toolbar Additions
http://wordpress.org/plugins/multisite-toolbar-additions/
Is there a better way to control multisite network plugin use?!
- Multisite plugin management can be confusing
- Site-level fine control of plugins in a multisite network can be difficult
- Unless a plugin is network activated, it needs to be activated site by site
Why Multisite Plugin Manager?
Manage plugins that aren't network activated across a network
Fine network plugin control at the bottom of a site's settings tab
Multisite Plugin Manager Alternatives
- Plugin Commander
http://wordpress.org/plugins/plugin-commander/
Plugin/theme usage in a multisite network is difficult to monitor!
- The network plugin, theme and site pages should report something
- Going to every site plugin or theme page takes FOREVER!
Why Network Plugin Auditor? See use at network plugin, theme and sites pages

Want to copy what we did? Get Jetpack and here's the code to add to a post or page, HTML followed by CSS. The CSS is needed to activate the data-jmpress="fade" attribute which fades bullets. Replace images (i.e, url_to_your_background.jpg or url_to_your_image.jpg) with ones of the dimensions noted (or proportionately larger and let the browser scale down). To properly scale a presentation, you may also need to adjust presentation height, width and other elements, dependent on dimensions and CSS used on your site.
